What a beautiful day it was when Kelly and Bill became man and wife. My wonderful friend, Heather Joiner, came with me to second shoot and capture their day which was full of the joy and love of family and friends. Heather's image of the cell phone capture is a personal favorite of mine along with her whimsical shots of the groomsmen! "Quintessence"

Eva and I had a much easier time being creative with flowers this week. Even though it may seem so easy to envision what you want to shoot for a theme, bringing it to fruition is often quite a challenge. Many times I have been in the middle of what I wanted to shoot and another situation presents itself causing a completely different end result. Heather has ventured out and, along with some incredible ladies and photographers, developed the Ultimate Photographer's Sourcebook. This is an exciting new phase for Heather and the UPSB is a wealth of information for photographers of all levels. There are insightful interviews with many of the admired pro photographers in the business along with helpful links to get anyone started in the right direction. This is an amazing book in regards to starting a photography business and learning how to develop your style as well as getting to know your equipment and clientele.

Rêve à Deux ~ Project 52 "Reflections

This weeks theme of "Reflections" was really a challenge for me. I have a hazy vision of what I wanted, but just could not get that vision in focus. Then, in a moment, it all fell incidently into place with this shot of my daughter at play. Eva's amazing picture of silver and blue, amazingly enough, complimented the tones in my image. So different in perspective and yet reflective of the same feeling. A thanks to Eva for her inspiration and guidance or I never would have settled on what I was trying to convey.

Welcome little M ~

What a pleasure it was to meet little baby "M" and get a chance to know her mother. She was 10 days old and full of spirit. It gave me a chance to get back into the swing of shooting newborns - always a challenge. Thank you for your patience - your joy over your newborn daughter made you radiant! Congratulations to you and your husband.

I am so very proud and honored to be working with the lovely and talented Eva Ricci on a new blog RÊVE À DEUX, Project 52. Our collaboration began with the intention of inspiring other and well as ourselves to create new and fresh images over a 52 week timespan. Eva is a fine art photographer with a background in graphic arts. She creates images that speak to one's heart and soul - you will not want to miss viewing her images. Heather and I have had a very busy 2010! Her photography prop business, Joco Couture, has rapidly grown while I have been in the throes of helping my husband with his new veterinary clinic. Then there are the kids - all 9 kids - Heather and I have between us. What a crazy year! We are excited to move forward and get back to the art of creating images and capturing beautiful moments. We are thrilled that 2011 is here and wish everyone out there a very HAPPY New Year!

Pettiskirt Princess

Heather and I were asked to do one year birthday shots for our favorite little girl. It was so much fun because we got to shoot out in their barn and the lighting conditions worked out well for us. We love these shots and getting to be a little more creative. We are anxious to see how her birthday invite turns out!

Little Tabitha gave me and Heather another chance to dress her up and snap some pictures. We had so many ideas and props we wanted to try, but she had other ideas. We were happy with what we were able to get after Heather "baby-whispered" her to sleep!

Look at all these wonderful photography props that Heather created! A talented photographer, crocheter and knitter all -in-one. Joco Couture sells heirloom quality knitted and crochet items for photographers and clients. She will custom make items as well. Any newborn would look adorable in her wee ones wear.

Fine Art Textures on Prints

Heather and I have been branching out into the realm of using fine art textures over images to give a more artistic appeal to different subject matter. We will be adding examples of effects to our gallery and they will be available as an option to our clients at an additional cost. We think these will look wonderful on fine print paper, canvas wraps as well as other gallery wall hangings that we offer our clients as special orders.

Heather had a newborn session with the subject of our first maternity shoot. Little Tabitha was a beautiful, chubby newborn. Heather's images capture the pure beauty and serenity of the first week of life. I am absolutely in LOVE with her black and whites. The adorable bear hat and beautiful hiney cover and hat were all hand-made by Heather and can be found at Joco Couture on Etsy.com.

Missy Z...

Little Z was our first baby girl photo shoot! We could not have asked for a more wonderful experience. She was already four months old and yet, she happily posed for us for FOUR hours without a tear. We had so many wonderful pictures of her in many different set-ups. Little did we know that her disposition was not typical of many infant sessions. Someone certainly blessed us with such a lovely child for our first time out!

Cherry Blossoms.

I had a major stroke of luck when my cherry tree practically dropped all of its petals in one day. I had been wanting to capture my daughters together in their Easter dresses for some weeks. We went for about an hour - it was overcast and windy - the petals blew down like falling snow. I figured if none of the pictures turned out, I could take more the next day. It was not to be so as the rain poured down that night and soaked all the petals into the grass. I am so grateful that I have these photos of their childhood to treasure.~D

I thought that there was no better picture to post than the subject of our first photo session. What a precious angel he was! We could not have asked for a more handsome little man of which to take our first shots. I know I was shaking a bit in my shoes, but Heather, as always, took it all in stride. We were surprised and very pleased with the results of the shoots and the very gracious parents. We had a giggle when the photo prop cocoon we had brought to stuff him only went to his knees resulting in the peeking toe picture. Of course, it became one of my favorite shots of the day - a happy accident. Live and learn, learn, learn! I have so much to do of both.

Well, it looks as though the dream of "Anam Cara" is finally being realized. Heather and I could not be more pleased with how quickly things seem to be moving forward and we are up and running far ahead of our original target date! We want to thank everyone who told us to go for it (even with nine little ones between us). We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to an amazing photographer, Heather of HeatherLynnPhotography, who encouraged us to begin our adventure even though we were both knee deep in babies, dirty dishes and laundry. This is the beginning of life beyond being mothers and wives - a chance to deeply explore our artistic perspectives and share them with others. The beauty of children at play, a baby at sleep or a family laughing together has a soul and depth of its own. We are privileged to have a glimpse into each of those private worlds and hope to capture them in beautiful, pure images.
